When I Grow Up, I Want To Be An Artist
I'm definitely not alone, but I've always wanted to be a creative. But how do you get to become an artist?

At what point is it, you can say "look Mum, I am an artist".
Is it when you first pick up a pencil, or when an instagram post goes viral. Is it when your favourite sportsperson or celebrity likes your designs, or is it your first sold out gallery exhibition and you make a million quid?

It's a difficult metric to measure (especially if the people making art, are predisposed for self doubt & imposter syndrome). Thank you, lizard brain.

When does creativity become artistic talent? and what's the best way to comfortably put yourself on that pedestal to allow yourself to be called an artist. Jeff Koons, the man who made those little shiny balloon-art dogs popular (for the uncultured swines who didn't know) said "Art is about profundity. It's about connecting to everything that it means to be alive, but you have to act".

Emphasis on the last part "you have to act". Flexing your creative muscles and making ideas come to life, every day is what makes an artist an artist. It's not the end product that matters, but the process of putting pen to paper. Unfortunately not everyone can make hyper-photorealistic drawings of the ocean, or super witty and introspective cartoons that break down the fourth wall of society, but we can all attempt to learn.

Little by little we turn our wimpy little artist arms into 20" inch Mr Olympia biceps by just continuing the journey, taking our time to figure things out, and getting ideas out of our heads.
Fear is the mind killer, and procrastination is the thief of time, so don't wait about for that world shattering idea to pop into your head. Create every day and eventually something will stick.

So, with that in mind, im off to plonk a beret on my head, a paint brush behind my ear and scribble some lood images in a McDonald's toilet in the name of creativity, of course.
